Park Lane have further extended our environmental progress by taking positive steps to measure, limit and offset our carbon footprint.

December 2007 The Carbon Trust undertook a thorough examination of our operations and have issued us with; i) a carbon footprint of 95* tCO2e p.a., ii) a method of monitoring our footprint and iii) a plan to reduce it.

Throughout 2008 Park Lane will work to reduce our Carbon Footprint by following the plans set out in the auditors report, and in addition we will be offsetting all our emissions with the charity Pure. Click here to view our current donation certificate.

Pure are a non-profit making organisation with capped expenses at 22%, and do not own a recognised brand for Carbon Offsetting like Carbon Neutral or Climate Care. Pure is a charity which use verified government approved offsetting schemes.

The following information has been taken from Pure’s website.

PURE financially support Kyoto Protocol emissions reduction projects around the world. Emission reductions are audited and verified by the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism; or for UK projects by the National Energy. Emissions reduction are witnessed by carbon credits; that might then be used by polluters within Kyoto emissions trading schemes for compliance purposes. However, the Trustees then cancel these credits from the international register which limits the amount of greenhouse gases that polluting companies are allowed to release into the atmosphere. This method both meets the proposed UK Government Code of Best Practice for carbon offsetting and offers a dual environmental benefit.

As a result, Pure:
• Is more effective against climate change
• Directly supports Kyoto Process
• Acts more rapidly against climate change
• Reduces carbon PLUS smog & acid rain
• Is fully transparent in terms of process and pricing

*Our carbon footprint for 2010 was 57.5CO2 tonnes. 2010 figures were calculated using The Pure Calculator which is based on site activities only, we have excluded our electricity figure of 191.2t/co2 as we bought it from Eco-tricity providing natural renewable sources. This years calculations do include freight transport by works van, car transport, staff commute, water, home workers, oil heating.
